Some ppl say this one is only a "plot twist".Thats bullshit .This one reflects master detector Martin Scorsese's sheer brilliance.And consists of levels of depth in it.
First level-U will think this is only a plot twist.
second level-U will question all plot elements and contradictions and feel there is something more than what, most of ppl say out there.
Third level--u gotta clear all questions off the screen.and feel this is a near masterpice
Who made this ?its by Scorsese.He never trows bullshit at u..this is art..highly recommended..

just finished seeing this ..brilliant movie of course..everything was near flawless..spoilers from here btw.
is he really crazy? or finally was he convinced that he was crazy? you can see from miles both these options coming, so does the twist yet i can't make up my mind as to which out of those two really took place here...again a monster of a movie from our crime movie genius.

he was really insane.
Some facts most of ppl out there in the internet missed!
1)First huge fact a viewer believes he is not crazy, is meeting with Rachel in the cave.she says he has to omit medication and cigarette.But think two scenes just before that..huge no of rats coming out of cave! before that he thinks he saw Chuck fell down from the cliff and finds out later there was no body beneath the cliff.These two scenes used by director to reflect meeting Rachel in the cave scene also imaginary.
2)Could u see first warden of the place is not to be seen and a different character was there claiming he is the warden.
3)Inside the light house doctor showed him teddy's kids photographs.If those photographs were some one else's how did we see them in teddy's dreams..So that is the first major fact, that proves those children were his children..and that proves his statement of not having children is also false.
4)lastly he recovered fully.He admits he killed his wife.But "live like a monster" thing suggests he has to bear all those bad haunting memories if he continues to live on.So he decided to die like a man.The way to do is, falsely refer the partner as "Chuck", indicating to Dr. Sheehan that previous therapy was no success.. and that will lead to the brain surgery inside the lighthouse..and his death..
That was the depth i was telling about.Freaking intelligent ending!!!!

it is strongly evident that he was insane yet there are some clues too to imply that he was sane..i think the director chose to leave it up to the viewer to make up their own minds as to that matter.. in either cases i think meeting with that lady in the cave is he hallucinating, but that could be simply from being drugged too.
ya bro! u r correct.but careful analysis will discover he is insane.That is not simpling saying he is insane.Coz too much facts was there to deiced he is sane. to find out he is not sane viewer has to overcome those facts by careful analysis.
btw Superb acting by Decaprio right?
