ya bro! u r correct.but careful analysis will discover he is insane. That is not simpling saying he is insane.Coz too much facts was there to deiced he is sane. to find out he is not sane viewer has to overcome those facts by careful analysis.
btw Superb acting by Decaprio right?

yeah ..all the clues edge to "insanity" ..hmm yeah pretty good acting..will of course receive an oscar nomination...i was trying to put de niro in his place at his youth had this movie been made in 70s ..scorsese is known to make good crime movies but the two psychological thrillers he made have proven to be masterpieces.

how is the animation integrated in to the movie ?
Tales of the Black Freighter animation itself is artistic.they say including it and this version of the film is certainly the most slavishly faithful to the graphic novel.
But i felt kind of thematic irrelevancy!but its a quite satisfactory for me.

I'm asking how its integrated in the main movie. Not how that animation is.
Even the director's cut doesnt have this animation in the main story as the newspaper stand and the kid who reads the black freighter comic are not in the movie.
