    speed = distance/time ;)

    haha that's not the reason bro..

    let me explain.. a copper wire carrying electricity (like the one in ur telephone line) is like a garden hose already full of water. once you connect such a hose to a water line and open the tap, (i.e, once you create a pressure difference) water comes out at the other end almost instantaneously, no matter how long the pipe is...

    now imagine a copper wire as a hose full of water, and water in this case is the free electrons (copper is full of free electrons btw), ready to be displaced at an electric potential difference.

    the issue here is not the speed.. it's rather something called the "signal to noise ratio" of the line..

    it's like longer the line, higher the noise in the line becomes..

    yes 100% true man.

    will higher SNR rate affect stability of conection ??

    of course it will..
    you see SNR (in dB) = 10 log(signal/noise) so higher SNR implies higher level of signal compared to noise.

    now what happens with low snr is that, noise levels become comparable to signal level that it becomes difficult to isolate actual data from random noise.. you will get the advertised speed but the data will get corrupt and the line will drop frequently
