A proposal to build a railway line and operate speed trains between the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) Katunayake and the Kollupitiya station will be presented to President Mahinda Rajapaksa by its promoters headed by Dr Parimalan Rajo Isa Michael of Airport Express (Rail/Air) Lanka Ltd.
Dr Michael said that they will start on the project as soon as the Government gives the nod. He said that, with increased tourist arrivals it is necessary to improve infrastructure. This will help cut down the time taken for travelling as a train ride from Katunayake to Colombo will take only 25-30 minutes while it will take around two hours by road....

අනේ මේ ඔයි. තමුසෙලා වගේ ඕනේ එකටයි එපා එකටයි හැම එකටම උඩ දාගෙන දෙන්ඩ ඕනේ කමක් මට නෑ. මම කලිනුත් කිව්වා ලංකාවට සුබ දෙයක් වෙනවා නම් එචරයි ඒවා වලින් මාටියා ගහන්නේ නැතුව. මේ වැඩේ හොඳයි එක හොඳින් වෙනවා නම්. කොමිස් ගහන්නේ නැතුව අන්තිමට මුකුත් වෙන්න නැතුවට වඩා. මම තමුසෙලාට වඩා මේ මිනිස්සු ගැන දන්නවා. මම කඩේ යන්නේ මේ රටේ දුප්පත් මිනිස්සු, අයුක්තියට අසාදරනේට විරුද්දව. උඹලට කොන්දක් නැනේ. හැම එකටම නැමිලම හිටපන්.
