For playing Far Cry 2 you most definitely do not need Far Cry 1. And for the AVP Problem, I'm sorry but I'm afraid I can't quite answer to that, I remember a long time ago I downloaded it from here and it worked just fine. Sorry.

Hmm no try downloading again with IDM or Orbit downloader. There was a server down in ex.ua in last month I can't remember the day. If you start downloading that file those days then that must be the reason.
