Government takes over Hilton Colombo

Minister of Economics Development Basil Rajapaksa informed parliament today that the Hilton Hotel Colombo had been taken over by the government last week, as the investor had violated the lease agreement having paid the lease for only two months.

    Don't blame the govt for everything. I myself is a big SF and UNP supporter. But I think this is should be the way forward for us in the future and this will be a lesson for all the big investors like shangri-la and to let them aware of the consequences if you violate any agreements.

    Way to go..There's no fraud involved in this.

    I dont know about not payin da leasing thing...but I heard its because their leasing period was over and the hotel management dint want to extend it which might not look good when a big chain like Hilton give up their business in a country, it can question the stability of the economy in the country...

    SL needs more hiltons & other big names :yes:

    this is just another move by the government, they have started buying other hotels
