TÃŧrkiye offers to sell military drones to Lanka
The Government of TÃŧrkiye has offered to supply military drones to Sri Lanka as part of efforts to strengthen defence cooperation between the two countries, with the systems primarily intended for maritime surveillance.
Speaking at an event marking the tenth anniversary of TÃŧrkiye's failed coup attempt, held at the Bandaranaike International Diplomatic Training Institute, TÃŧrkiye's Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Dr. Semih LÃŧtfÃŧ Turgut, said the embassy is arranging for Turkish defence experts to visit Colombo and brief Sri Lankan military officials on the capabilities of TÃŧrkiye's drone technology.
The Ambassador also highlighted TÃŧrkiye's commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation with Sri Lanka in areas including trade, culture, education, and defence.
On foreign policy, Dr. Turgut said TÃŧrkiye continues to pursue an independent and strategically autonomous approach while maintaining its role as a NATO member. He added that TÃŧrkiye remains engaged with both Ukraine and Russia, emphasizing dialogue and diplomacy to help create common ground for resolving the ongoing conflict.
