    Well, not always. In high rpm / high lift cam applications, brands like Speedmaster may perform better due to Zinc additives. Or brands like Red Line may perform better on over-spec turbo builds due to Esters, etc. Rule of thumb is to use Mobil Gold when you are unsure :D

    Generally in a NA it's because of the volumetric efficiency differences and tuning differences. And then there are drivetrain and parasitic losses. In FI - Size/ratio of the turbo/supercharger, fueling, tuning, etc. Tuning includes fuel trims, timing, target AFR/lamda, rev limit, etc...
