I do know that the letter ෆ was coined by J. B. Dissanayake in the early 1980s for the English F sound. But I do not know where he got that letter from or what sparked the idea to have a letter in the Sinhala alphabet for the F sound. -

I see now. I have also seen the letter zස, though rarely, being used for z. I guess the letter zස is used more in handwriting than in printing. Where have you seen zස being used? Another interesting letter I have heard about is one called sagngnaka thaaluja sayanna which also I have never seen...
