    Well! I had a 900MB something HDD with few bad sectors, I created a small partition contains the bad sector and I did hide that partition, You can also give it a try :)

    I've seen many horrible user stories of K850 on the net, Hardware and Software failures too. To be frank it is one of the hall of shame devices manufactured by SE ( AFAIK it isn't made by SE).     Windows Defender is adequate for spyware/adware sort of things. not for Viruses, but Vista64 isn't as vulnerable as Win XP, I had to reinstall XP once a month or two when I tried it without an anti-virus, but with Vista64 it's almost 1 and a half years now.. see ? :)
