Wireless network not working on Laptop

dear friends, my new work laptop seems to have some "lock" or something and won't detect the wireless connection. However it works fine on Ethernet cable. Bloody pain in the ass.... it's just not detecting the wireless. Wireless connection switch was checked etc.... all seems fine.... any ideas...
