you may hear what Yasushi Akashi, the Japanese envoy, said during the last days of the war: that the LTTE must be destroyed to bring peace to the country. That is what the turning table is the Sri Lanka waiting for. The LTTE survived because they had very big international support that diminished with the peace talk of 2001-2003.
completely false! MR faced heavy international pressure to stop the operations, but he never budged. In April 2009, David Miliband and Bernard Kouchner, the Foreign Secretaries of Britain and France, came to force MR to stop operations. MR took them to Sooriyawewa, made them suffer, and thereafter told them he would not stop operations. The third member of this foreign diplomatic team was not so lucky, the Swedish foreign minister, was denied permission to enter the country. That's how he managed international pressure.

Of course, they are. Because of internal pressure from the Tamil diaspora, the Tamils in those countries had substantial votes that could determine who would win a general election. Thats why those delegations used to come here. But unlikely those in the CBK, JRJ, or Premadasa era, this pressure was able to be handled because India backed us. and you should read Yasushi Akashi's remarks regarding the war. and most countries supported us, that the supply ships in the eastern sea were able to be destroyed because the Navy of the USA has given the exact location, and they have given us warships. But during the JRJs, they refused to supply spare parts for Bell helicopters, which were later obtained through Israel.

India pretended to support us; they had to do this to preserve their reputation. The final phase of the conflict served as an excellent example of the balance of power strategy. Sri Lanka checked the combination of EU, US, and Indian interests with Chinese interests. India knew the end result of the war, and they also knew that if they forced their will on us, China would take a big advantage, so they acted the same way they are acting now with the Ukraine-Russia conflict.

that the supply ships in the eastern sea were able to be destroyed because the Navy of the USA has given the exact location, and they have given us warships. But during the JRJs, they refused to supply spare parts for Bell helicopters, which were later obtained through Israel.
Sure, they have given us the locations of supply ships, but SL gave the US the names of the ships. It was not a help; but a mutually beneficial deal for both parties. As far as I know, they have given us Coast Guard ships, not warships with no weapons. According to my navy friend, the navy had to improvise ships using land weapons like RCL and 122mm MBRL to sink those LTTE ships. The US sold weapons to the SL and then refused to sell ammunition for those weapons; that's how they helped us.
