When Mahela, Sanga played in ODIs they had to play their full quota of matches.
Whereas, in 1996, two top teams didn't play in Sri Lanka due to security fears. Such forfeitures make it easy for the opposing team to win.

Yeap. But that is T20. Nowadays every 2 years you can play a T20 world cup.

Interesting point.. - did you mean Cricket is more competitive now with high scores, power hitters, aerobics and fielding, strategies and tactics etc.,?
