I have visited nearly 20 countries as a professional. With my all experiences, (unfortunately) I can vehemently say without any hesitation: SL has never, ever produced a world-class professional in ANY field (other than Ms. Susanthika Jayashinhe). Instead of writing many chapters and verses, I’ll come to a simple point…
Here, I don’t get examples from the field of Science. because, then somebody might bring lame excuses such as “we don’t have a capital to do high standard researches…”
As the owner of this tread has also mentioned, we have numbers of faculties (in the field of Economics, Finance …) who claim to have produced world-class professionals/ academicians….
Most of academic researches in the field Economics, Finance are done with literature surveys and field surveys… (no need big a capital) … so without beating around the bush…tell me in nutshell, WHY..we have been unable to produce an internationally accepted theory or concept in the field of finance or any other… even after 80Ys under the shadow of free education
At least, a small theory such as “Supply & demand” which were being talking in the time of the Merchant of Venice (In Europe)???

in science we got prof cyril ponnamperuma - Appolo programme moon landing analysis of soil from moon
Unfortunately our education system does not promote research and new thinking. So we do not have Nobel Prize winners ! Unlike India they got Dr. C.V.Raman and Dr . Ramanujan S early as nobel laurates . But we have produced international personalities such as late late Justice C.G .Weeramantry as ICJ judge and highly respected in UN and even internationally. His decisions and impartiality is known to the world when he declared Nuks are illegal even to possess! There are many who have achieved this level, Too many to mention here.

My friend, Since the establishment of NASA in late 50, It has done hundreds of such projects and thousands of ppl have worked there. According to the ‘World or USA’ Mr. Ponnamperuma was one of them, Mr Sarath gunapala is just another…. That’s all. Further, examine collected moon-soil was just a tiny part of the whole Apollo program!
I knew you would mention those names… these are another a couple of names you have missed : Ray Wijewardene, Sarath gunpaala, Eng Kulasinghe, Malik Peiris….YES they are great than us ! but they also have never reached the level I mentioned. If Indians need to mention the names of their professionals where in the prominent places of US organizations, they have ample names !!!
At the beginning I kindly ask you not to beating around the bush…(no need to mention a list of name ) , just shoot me a direct answer to the question I have asked ….

In many ways don’t agree with prof Nalinda silva. According to me he is a racist! Even though he a is very nationalist, he has also clearly identified the problem I have mentioned here.
