Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s premier connectivity provider, has announced that its 3G network will be shut down effective 15th November 2023. As communicated earlier this year, the decision comes as part of Dialog Axiata's ongoing efforts to provide the best possible mobile experience for its customers and is part of its continued efforts to introduce best-in-class, next-gen technologies to Sri Lankan consumers.

Why did Dialog decide to shutdown 3G?
Dialog decided to shut down its 3G network on the 15th Nov 2023 to give more spectrum capacity to expand the 4G Broadband Network thereby giving a better experience to the Dialog 4G mobile Broadband/ Data customers.
How does the 3G shutdown affect me?
If you are using a 3G SIM or 3G device you will not be able to use Data services once the 3G network is shutdown on the 15th Nov 2023, but you can continue using calls and SMS on your current 3G device.
