It appears that Director General of Sustainable Energy Authority would like to promote coal than solar energy.
Instead of making the case for renewable energy, he appears to make a case for coal through distortions, misrepresentations and untruths.
1. He mentions costs of Norachcholai is 12/unit. It is 18 with capital costs. (If capital costs are excluded, costs of solar power will be zero).
2. He doesnt understand that the difference between day and peak is less than 200MW (less than 10%), and falsely claims that it is double.
3. Misrepresents the costs of solar and storage and keeps hammering that solar is expensive. Even CEB is accepting that NetPlus tariff is a cost beneficial for the CEB.
4. Forgets that he must look at national economic benefit - not CEB financial benefit.
5. Says 100% renewable energy is not-feasible - while being a co-author of a study with ADB which claimed that 100% renewable energy by 2050 is feasible.
6. Has been a strong advocate for coal and gas in front of the President.
What a tragedy. Probably aiming for some plum consulting contracts from CEB after the term. How can these people take us to 80% renewable target???
Edit: Added a load curve of 2020 Jan. Doesnt look like night peak is double that of day. This is net of solar rooftops - so the real difference between day and night is around 200MW.
