You are sadly mistaken.
Mrs G readily supplied military support during 1971 JVP insurgency and if not for that with N. Korean support JVP would have grabbed the power with ease. Mrs B did not heed to the intelligence of the insurrection and was taken by surprise. If not for Indian support which we got in no time with Indian airforce even landing with supplies , the history would have taken a different turn.
There was no evidence India supported JVP during 89-90 uprising in fact AKD, Tilvin and their seniors wanted our forces to attack Indian Airforce Planes that dropped 'Parippu' in order to stop Vadamarachi operation which was successfully implemented by four sides .
India is a de facto super power of the world even at that time whether JVP liked it or not . They had the fourth largest Army in the world at that time and now their Economy has also got the same position in the World with more than USD 4 trillion . So they may also have economic interests similar to US, Russia, China etc.
Sri Lanka being a small country cannot antoganize India but need not be a second fiddle to India . But unfortunately we lack intellect and vision in our Minister as well as career Diplomats who had not gained any noteworthy international recognition like in the past .
