According to Wikipedia, USA has used this tech in Roosevelt Island Tramway in New York City and the Portland Aerial Tram for public transport successfully.

I listed to the ones I have been to and as far as i could remember. I have stayed in Manhattan (NY) too, but didn't take this particular tram. There's a bridge and the Subway to Roosevelt island anyway. There's nothing much there. Quite small place. Haven't been to Portland. Thanks!
