is it means some people even though vaccinated, can get infected and get effects similar to non-vaccinated persons? bcoz their antibodies will also not remain last long (at least 6 months).I have written several times before, why people who were infected with Covid have different levels of immunity. The answer to this was provided by Prof Shiv Pilllai of Harvard Medicine - and in short we have microstructures called "Germinal centres" within us. In some of the patients Covid damages these and sufficient antibodies do not develop, resulting in immunity that doesn't last long.
Our defences against infection and it comes in basically in two parts. These two systems work in harmony. When we first get infected with any bug, the "Innate immune system" kicks in. It uses pattern recognition receptors that knows to distinguish between harmless and dangerous pathogens.
Then the innate immune system signals a trigger to initiate the other "Adaptive immune system" which is much more complex & intricate. It takes days for this system to be activated but it's got a memory. This makes it remember what to do if you are infected with the same pathogen again.
Most diseases does NOT give you lifetime immunity. Some do... Like measles.
There are many types of various mechanisms that come into play and please read my posts on "T-cells to the Rescue" (there were two posts) for further info.
Even if antibodies disappear, there are cells that manufacture them, called B cells, may still be around. B cells for Spanish Flu have been found in people 90 years after that pandemic. Then there are T-cells. It is also not understood what happens to T cells in the long term. But T cells against the original SARS have been found 17 years later. But sadly with Covid these seem to be short lived.
CDC reported that people who've had COVID, are twice as likely to get reinfected than those who get vaccinated.
So rather than worrying about finding how this happens, which BTW has no benefit unless you are a researcher - Get vaccinated and take every measure to stay safe.
The antibodies of vaccinated people will last for some time whereas when you become infected you are not sure about the status unless you do an antibody test. I agree vaccinating is the solution. but other way round ?????
