Brother Do not speak without knowing facts?
Do you know why he only practice in Private sector? That's due to some god damn politicians in this country! they made him to leave the country for their sheer hunger to get credits - In fact he was still try to serve the people in this country by visiting sri lanka every month! We rather should thank him than just shouting like you! He is also a human he too got a family, he too face problems, yet he is generous enough to visit this country every month to serve in his capacity!
    By the way

    sorry for late reply..

    sorry for late reply..

anyway cervical spondylosis is a condition pressing spinal cord. so i agree that's a serious surgery.
and the management has several stages
    1- conservative management.
2- pain killers and anti inflammatory medicines
    3- surgery.

usually spinal cord surgery can result several neurological problems as complications of surgery.

it's not a problem of the surgeon, but due to complex nature of surgery.
and in your wife's case , as she's in younger age, surgeons are reluctant to do a surgery as it may be sometimes end up with several complications.

that may be the reason to postponing the surgery.
and also there's a grade of the disease according to CT and MRI.
possibility of surgery depends on the grade of disease too.

so my option is still the same.

go and consult Dr kularathna, and he might discuss with you and say that you can't afford for private hospital.
    go an admit for NHSL.
the neurosurgery ward complex is so advanced as any private unit.
also please note that a neurosurgeon is one of the most skilled job of the world and goes on extensive training more than 12 years.

    so no problem about skills.
usually as i remember in general hospital operation theaters there are set of doctors working,
but please note that junior doctors only involve in skull opening, suturing like minor things.
all major things like involving spine or brain is handled by senior registrar(consultant with pending foreign 1 year training) or most of the time the consultant himself.don't worry about that.

so no worries, go for NHSL.
their personal affairs are bad.i admit. but you get the best possible outcome. the advantage in a teaching hospital is, there is very less chance to do a mistake as the mistake is being highlighted by several set of doctors from consultant, SR, REG, SHO, MO , HO and medical students too.

so if diagnosis is clear , there are no problems, as far as i remember , cervical spondylosis is being handled there.

at last , please note that disease has some problems of her spinal cord bones at neck level.applying ayurvedic medicines may soften the bones and can compress the spinal coloumn, also those mixtures can switch off her nerves sensing pain so she might feel comfort.but inside she's dying by that compression.
so never do ayurvedics on nervous system, and not any monk nor god can cure her unless a neurosurgeon.
    listen to your barin ,
i i have seen lot of fools have given false advices, which include take her to some anuradhapura , as far as i knoow there are no neurosurgeons in anuradhapura.

and for the notable people you asked.

duminda silva and mahinda wijesekara been undergone surgery at sri lanka, i was in theatre as a student when mahinda vijesekara's surgery being done.
and the recovery depends on the damage to the brain.
usually in mahinda's case it was serious three pieces of metals have been removed.
he was lucky to survive anyhow.
don't expect a person recover from a brain surgery as recover from fever.
    it takes time, sometimess never.

but we have to take the risk to see the benefit.
    always the benefit outweighs risk.
    so go for it..

    at last.
don't go behind ayurvada, monks or any kind of god.
cervical spondylosis have to corrected by a surgery.

    keep on faith.
all the best and good luck..

    sorry for late reply..
