දවසක් ධනවත් පියෙක් තමාගේ පුතා සමග විනෝද සංචාරයක් යන්න පිටත් උනා. එයාට ඕන උනා කෙනෙක් කොච්චර දුප්පත් විය හැකිද කියල පුතාට පෙන්වන්න..ඔවුන් ගොවිපලක දුප්පත් පවුලක් සමග නිවාඩුව ගත කරලා එන ගමන් තාත්ත පුතාගෙන් ඇහුවා; "ඔයා දැක්කද ඒගොල්ලෝ කොච්චර දුප්පත්ද කියලා, මොනවද ඔය ඉගෙන ගත්තේ?" කියලා..
පුතා උත්තර දුන්නා "අපිට ඉන්නේ එක බල්ලයි, ඒගොල්ලන්ට හතර දෙනෙක් ඉන්නවා, අපිට පිහිනුම් තටාකයක් තියෙනවා ඒගොල්ලන්ට ගංගාවල් තියෙනවා, අපිට රැට ලයිට් තියෙනවා ඒගොල්ලන්ට තරු තියෙනවා, අපි කෑම මිලදී ගන්නකොට ඒගොල්ලෝ වගා කරනවා, අපිව ආරක්ෂා කරන්න තාප්ප තිබුනට ඒගොල්ලන්ට මිත්රයෝ ඉන්නවා. අපි කොච්චර දුප්පත්ද කියලා පෙන්නුවාට ඔබට ස්තුතියි"
මුදල් අපව ධනවත් නොකරයි, ජීවිතයේ සරල භාවය අප ධනවත් කරයි..
