i remember listening to this album which came with a book of lyrics/music scores and art by sybil wettasinghe iirc. afaik the melodies were her own. they are simple ofc but given they are children's songs I wouldn't mind it at all. still, the overall composition is soothing with the right level of sophistication imo.
about her voice: yeah it's kinda unique. i've heard rumours that studios sometimes processed her voice to make it more soothing. (u can hear some reverb in the above album, too. given that the album released in 1986 (notice it's before the cursed 88/89 which forever changed her), i wouldn't think they had autotune those days).
fun fact: she was 9 years old when she sang බුදු සාදු song (75+ years ago! let that sink in
) which is still heard today (src: 2 minutes into the vid they are name dropping some greats which is very sad because we no longer have such characters now working together. maybe im wrong idk. i hope im wrong). rip nanda malini.
