There is no downside for giving up luxury, anything else is just pure cope
    Actually there is.
Take you as an example. Would you like to downgrade your lifestyle to serve the country ?
Unless you have sufficient funds saved up, you won't. I know that Hans gave up his job to come and serve the country. But he could do it because he has nothing to gain financially. He's rose to the top and now what he's looking for is self fulfillment. He can be happy atleast he has done something for the country.
But this is not always the case. Qualified people may demand certain resources and these resources should be available to attract the right talent.

So minister Wasantha admitting that his vehicle does 9 kmpl is ok for you ? While there are plenty of other vehicles in the fleet which give a far better fuel economy ?
Have strong spine to point out mistakes when they do them.
Look at AKD. His logic for new vehicle prices having a higher price is to match current market price so that finance companies can stay in business.
In the same theory if the rice mill owners pump the price for 500 rupees per 1 kilo, should the government import rice to match this 500 rupee price or should be be doing it to lower the price ?
Open your eyes and see the reality please !
