I'm in the diamond trade and business since 1966. It is possible with modern technology to compress carbon under very high pressure and temperature, and to obtain a "rough diamond". Once polished, you will get a yield from about 50% maximum. So that means you lose minimum half of the weight from rough to polished (during my 47 years of experience, I bought thousands of carats of rough diamonds, and believe me I know what I'm talking about). So this man is getting ONLY HALF of his son back ! But I think its easier for this company to pocket the 18.000 $ and to deliver a black or dark brown diamond after eight months of "extensive labor", a diamond that you can buy in Antwerp for 100/150 $ per carat and in which it's anyway impossible to find back the DNA from the beloved one. Anyway, after cremation it's already impossible In my opinion this whole thing is a SCAM... But a clever one.
