Some target the FP (fusion peptide which stays 98% the same across the entire coronaviridae family of virusus), some vaccines use nano ferritin, some Chimeric and the Australian ones use Gene silencing or splicing. Some of these are on trial. But nothing till the end of 2022.

Gamaleya is working on the Sputnik for the Delta variant, Moderna & Pfizer will too... But all these will have less efficacy against another new mutation. Only a Universal vaccine is the answer, other than a drug.

No one can answer that Million Dollar question.... Just reember that it took 30 years to control Polio even after having an effective vaccine. Still it raises it's ugly head.

I believe the interaction between humans are really low and their lives were much simpler (No crazy weddings or sanakeli to initiate clusters). And also there was less density among humans.
Even with that, I heard in LK there were close to some thousands death. (Correct me if I'm wrong. Have a vague memory on this matter).
