Lot of people used to live in Malaysia and commute daily to work in SG. Malaysia the prices are quite low. But when covid hit and the border got closed the demand increased and because of that the prices rose. They haven't still come down and this will take sometime to come down because only recently did SG start accepting tourist.
Also you can get a good 2 bedroom appartment for less that 3k. So if you keep around another 1K for food and another 1.5k for other shit you should be good to live there with around 6K (little savings). these places will be far from the city but since their public transport is superb you should easily be able to commute.
If you want to live in the premium locations you will have to probably pay around 5K+ for complete apartments.

That's expensive, I would have that if the lifestyle is good, which is not
Internet (unlimited fibre 1gbps) - s$35,
Power/Water/Gas - around 200 depends on your usage
Mobile connection - 20-25
Food - Depends on where you eat from. If you get it delivered from Grab or foodpanda, a meal for 2 will cost around 20-30 SGD. But if you eat from hawkers centers, a single meal can be as less as s$5.
Rent: 2500-3500 for a 2 bedroom Condo. HDB should be less but even that has risen in price lately but expected to fall as border reopens
Btw what do you mean by if the lifestyle was good?
Can 2 parents with a small kid survive with about 8K? considering the daycare center cost or a nanny's cost while the parents are working and the food and other costs of 2 adults? It was possible a few years ago, but just want to know the situation now.Internet (unlimited fibre 1gbps) - s$35,

Good information to those who are expecting to live in SG. School fee are very high and getting PR is all most impossible in SGIt can be done. But you will have to limit your spending and control it. And the amount you save will be a bit less.
I had a friend who had a kid in daycare and earned around 8K, he mentioned he was able to save LKR 3.6 million a year (his rent was 2400 as I remember). This was back in 2020. Nowadays this will be a little less, with inflation and whatnot. I have no idea because we dont have kids.
Child care subsidies AFAIK are not given for employment visa holders. Kids needs to be a SG citizen for that.
Do note that if you earn 8K, around 600-700 of this will be tax.
