Unusual Friendships In The Animal World 
1. Tigress and Piglets
These pictures show two year old Saimai, a Royal Bengal tigress, with the six piglets she is raising, in The Sriracha Tiger Zoo in Bankok,Thailand.

2. Baby Hippo and Tortoise
A baby hippo rescued after floods in Kenya has befriended a 100-year-old tortoise in Kenya.
The one-year-old hippo calf christened Owen was found alone and dehydrated by wildlife rangers near the Indian Ocean.
He was placed in an enclosure at a wildlife sanctuary in the coastal city of Mombasa and befriended a male tortoise of a similar colour.
According to a park official, they sleep together, eat together and "have
become inseparable".
"Since Owen arrived on the 27 December, the tortoise behaves like a mother to it," Haller Park tourism manager Pauline Kimoti told the BBC News website.
"The hippo follows the tortoise around and licks his face," she said.
The tortoise is named Mzee, which is Swahili for old man.

3. Orangutan and a Blue Tick Hound
Roscoe, the blue tick hound, had followed the staff of The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina home. Suryia, the orangutan, was the first animal to spot the dog and went over to make friends with him. They immediately started playing with each other, which was odd to the staff, because they have seen that dogs are generally afraid of the primate species. They tried to see if Roscoe belonged to anyone in the area, but they were not successful, so they kept him. Suryia and Roscoe spend a few hours a day together and like to swim and Suryia will take the dog for a walk.

4. Chimpanzee and Big Cats
There is a sweet little chimp, named Anjana, who likes to play with big cats. She has helped the caregivers at The Greatly Endangered and Rare Species sanctuary to raise big cats. She acts as their mother. She will bottle feed the big cat kittens and even lie with them when it is nap time. The caregivers at the sanctuary say that she has been a big help in the raising of the big cats.

5. A Basset Hound and an Owl
The pair have become inseparable since meeting at an animal refuge, and are quite happy to cuddle up together on an armchair.
Beryl the Basset Hound, who is a grand old dame at 16 years old, and four-year-old tawny owl Wol struck up a friendship when their owner realised they both loved watching television in the evenings.
Sara Ross, who shares her home in Tenterden, Kent, with the animals said: "They are both rescue animals and they're like best buddies.
She added: "They are inseparable. They love cuddling up and watching television together.

6. A Cat and Chicks
A cat has succeeded in repressing her predatory instincts by adopting seven chicks to rear alongside her own litter of kittens. One-year-old Nimra, from Madaba in Jordan, has been watching over her unusual litter ever since the chicks’ mother died.
The mixed family, made up of her four newly born kittens and seven adopted chicks, lives in a cardboard box and has seemingly put its differences aside to eat, sleep and play together.
