Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake says that the monies allocated to the Pfresident in the 2015 Budget amounts to Rs. 262,000 for a day.
He has told parliament that millions have been allocated to the President’s office and there was no understanding as to what the monies are being spent on.
“What do you do with this much of money? Does he swallow Rs 5,000 notes for breakfast and make a mellum of it for lunch,” Dissanayake has said.
He has observed that there is no need for unlimited power in a single person’s hands.
“Under this system, instead of making collective decisions, one person takes all the decisions,” Dissanayake has added.
