There are plenty of countries with almost no rare earth minerals and precious metals which are doing quite good financially. Switzerland, Belgium, Taïwan, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore etc…

You understand that the gazillions or litters of fresh water running in streams and rivers in Sri Lanka is an extremely valuable resource right? There are entire countries depending on desalination or export from neighbouring countries for drinking water. And the ocean surrounding the entire country? That`s a freaking gold-mine to be tapped! And the fertile land and weather? That`s a dream for most countries..!
