Sri Lankan marathon runner Anuradha Indrajith Cooray says that his objective is to be among the top 20 runners at the London Marathon.
Meanwhile, Britain is increasing police numbers by 40 percent for today’s London marathon as part of an effort to reassure competitors and spectators after bombs devastated the Boston race on Monday.
The Metropolitan Police of London said there would be several hundred more officers and sniffer dogs on patrol over the weekend than had originally been planned for Sunday's race.
The increased policing is intended to reassure the 36,000 runners and the hundreds of thousands of supporters who were expected to line the course as the race wound round Tower Bridge and the Canary Wharf financial district before ending in front of Buckingham Palace.
Rubbish bins have been removed as a security measure towards the finish of the 42 kilometre race.
