වාරියපොළ පොලිසිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් මට ඇති වූ අත්දැකීමක් ගැන දැනුවත් අයගෙන් අදහසක් දැනගන්න කැමතියි.
2026-08-08 රාත්රී 01.00ට පමණ මම මගේ දුවත් සමඟ කුරුණෑගල සිට පාදෙණිය දෙසට බයික් එකෙන් ගමන් කරමින් සිටියා. වාරියපොළ පොලිසියට ආසන්නයේදී පොලිස් නිලධාරීන් කිහිපදෙනෙක් අවි/වෙපන්ස් පෙන්වමින් අපිව නවත්වන්න සංඥා කළා.
එම අවස්ථාවේ මගේ බයික් එකේ වේගය පැයට කිලෝමීටර් 45ක් පමණ වූ අතර උපරිම වශයෙන් 50 km/h පමණ වෙන්න ඇති. නවත්වන සංඥාව දැකලා මම වේගය අඩු කරමින් නවත්වන්න යමින් සිටියා.
මට ඒ වෙලාවේ එතරම් බයක් දැනුණේ නැහැ. නමුත් මගේ දුවගේ මුහුණ දැකපු පසු තමයි මට තේරුණේ ඇය වෙපන්ස් දැකලා ගොඩක් බය වෙලා කියලා.
මට ඇති ප්රශ්නය මෙයයි — සාමාන්ය රථවාහන පරීක්ෂාවකට මෙවැනි ආකාරයට අවි පෙන්වා වාහනයක් නවත්වීම සුදුසුද?
මොකද එවැනි අවස්ථාවක රියදුරු කලබල වී බයික් එකෙන් වැටෙන්න, වෙනත් වාහනයක හැප්පෙන්න, එහෙමත් නැත්නම් බයට නවතින්නේ නැතුව ඉදිරියට යන්න පවා ඉඩ තියෙනවා.
තවත් දෙයක් ගැන මට සැකයක් ඇති වුණා. එම අවස්ථාවේ සිටි නිලධාරීන් කිහිපදෙනෙක් මත්පැන් පානය කර තිබුණාද කියලා මට සැකයක් ඇති වුණා. හැබැයි ඒක මගේ අනුමානයක් විතරයි. ඒ බව මට තහවුරු කරලා කියන්න බැහැ.
මම මේක දාන්නේ කාටවත් චෝදනා කරන්න නෙමෙයි. මේ වගේ අවස්ථාවක පොලිසියට නීත්යානුකූලව සහ සාමාන්යයෙන් කළ හැකි දේ මොනවාද කියලා දන්න අයගෙන් දැනගන්නයි.
මේ ගැන නීතිය හෝ පොලිස් ක්රියාපටිපාටිය ගැන දන්න කෙනෙක් ඉන්නවා නම් කරුණාකර අදහසක් දෙන්න.
I would like to get some opinions from people who are familiar with police procedures regarding an incident I experienced involving Wariyapola Police.
On 08-08-2026, at around 01.00 AM, I was travelling by motorcycle from Kurunegala towards Padeniya with my daughter. Near the Wariyapola Police area, several police officers stopped us by showing weapons and signalling us to stop.
At that time, my motorcycle was travelling at around 45 km/h, possibly a maximum of around 50 km/h. When I saw the signal to stop, I was already slowing down and preparing to stop.
I personally was not very frightened at the time. However, when I looked at my daughter, I realised that she was very frightened after seeing the weapons.
My question is: Is it normal or legally permitted for police officers to display weapons when stopping a vehicle for a routine traffic check?
My concern is that such an action could cause a rider to panic and fall from the motorcycle, collide with another vehicle, or even become frightened and continue without stopping.
I also had a suspicion that some of the officers at the scene may have been under the influence of alcohol. However, this is only my personal suspicion, and I cannot confirm that it was actually the case.
I am not posting this to accuse anyone. I simply want to know what the proper legal and normal police procedure is in a situation like this.
If anyone has knowledge about police procedures or the law regarding this, please share your opinion.
