Sarath Fonseka opposition representative for the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Kenya
(Lanka-e-News, June 10, 2010, 9.20AM) The Speaker Chamal Rajapakse has approved the name of DNF leader and M P Sarath Fonseka as one of the members of the group of MPs who will be attending the conference of Parliamentarians of Commonwealth countries to be held in September in Kenya.
The Committee headed by the Speaker for the selection of Sri Lankan MPs to attend this conference met on the 8th at the Parliament. Two MPs each from the Govt. and the Opposition are to attend the conference. Earl Gunasekera and Sarath Fonseka have been selected by the Opposition as its representatives for the conference.
It is significant to note that this is the first occasion an M P will be traveling abroad while being held in custody.
