Its lots of discussion and new historic facts and lies comming up for political reasons . I have lived in Sri Lanka for 8 years. I can with 100 % assurance say i have seen at least 10 of my hometown friends faces in Sri lanka but in dark complexion. Most of them are sinhalese that has european futures. Somthimes i would say more than Indians, even do sinhalese are darker in general there faces are more European, like Russian/Scandinavians.
But with that said. Sinhalese race is a conspect its not a race. Most likely it was created by a Anuradaphura king ...who called new arrived forigners lion people . Those forigners came just for 2000 years ago , some of them was with Alexander the Great army , some of them was Romans, and other south europeans who was in India fighting Ravana. When Alexander returned back around 40 000 Fighters wanted to continue down south to find sea. But they instead whent to Anuradaphura stupa for the celebration. The Eastern greeks at that time was buddists. And those greeks was allowed to stay outside the east gates of Anuradaphura and got married.
The other forigners are Persians who came to south Sri Lanka and created Rohana clan, todays sinhala Ruhana. If you go down south many sinhalese has persian names, like Roshan, Eshan, This people was called Kambojas in the history .
The question that the sinhalese mix genetics with Europeans that came last 500 years is there...Of cos alot of sinhalese has european genetics. But not that many that people think. Most of there genetics goes back to the early europeans that came before the portugese..(which sinhalese nationalists does not wants to talk about.). But most of the mix married families fleed to south america when portuges elost there colony, Venezuela, Brazil has large influx of mix married sri lankan families who came with there european father there. Even do the nationalists calls Sri Lanka Hela-Diva , And ancient greeks was called Helas. So basicly Hela-Diva is New Greece.ඔයගොල්ලො හිතන්නෙ මොකක්ද මේ ගැන?
