This is not true anymore machan. I recently took 25 laks housing loan without any trouble by showing my account history along with a letter from my employer.

From Sampath Bank. But I had to talk to the manager and convince him. I had more than 5 years of income history. As they said they obtained the approval for the loan through a different department. Best thing is to talk to the manager. At first I talked to a normal banking guy and he said NO. Then I talked to the manager and he wanted to offer me the loan so badly. This might depend on the manager as well machan. But I also had a talk with Nations Trust Bank manager and he said they can offer me a loan if I maintain my accounts in their bank.

UNP Government imposed a tax relief for the freelancers upto 50 laks per month. Correct me if I'm wrong.

As I know it's 150 million rupees per year. You will have to have to pay taxes if you exceed that amount.
