‘A little from the English Language -14’ STUDY & SPEAK

‘A little from the English Language -13’ පාඩමෙන් අප අවධානය යොමු කළේ 'ඈම්' හි භාවිතය ගැනයි.

එහිදී අපේ අවධානය යොමු වූයේ' positive ' හෙවත් 'ඇත' යන අර්ථය සම්බන්ධවයි.
Examples: (උදාහරණ) I am a teacher. (මම ගුරුවරයෙක්මි/ගුරුවරියක්මි.) I am writing a letter. (මම ලිපියක් ලියමින් සිටිමි./මම ලිපියක් ලියමින් සිටින්නෙමි.)

අද අප අවධානය යොමු කරන්නේ 'ඈම්' භාවිතය ඇසුරෙන් ' negative ' හෙවත් ' නැත' යන අර්ථය ලබා දෙන ආකාරයයි.
මෙය තේරුම් ගැනීම ඉතාම පහසුයි.ඒ වගේම නිවැරදිව මතක තබා ගැනීමත් ඉතාම වැදගත්.

I am a teacher. (positive) (මම ගුරුවරයෙක්මි./ගුරුවරියක්මි.)
I am not a teacher. (negative) (මම ගුරුවරයෙකු නොවෙමි./ මම ගුරුවරියක නොවෙමී.)

I am a student. (positive) (මම සිසුවෙක්මි/සිසුවියක්මි.)
I am not a student.(negative)(මම සිසුවකු/සිසුවියක නොවෙමි.)

I am an engineer. (positive)(මම ඉන්ජිනේරුවෙක්මි.)
I am not an engineer. (negative)

I am a doctor. (මම වෛද්යවරයෙක්මි.වෛද්යවරියක්මි.)
I am not a doctor. (negative)

I am a farmer. (positive)( (මම ගොවියෙක්මි.) I am not a farmer. (negative)

I am in the library now. (positive) I am not in the library now. (negative)


I am writing a letter. (positive) I am not writing a letter. (negative)

I am talking to you. (positive) I am not talking to you. (negative)

I am reading a book. (positive) I am not reading a book.(negative)

I am trying to catch the bus to Kandy. (positive) I am not trying to catch the bus to Kandy. (negative)

I am pre-pairing for my final examination. (positive) I am pre-pairing for my final examination. (negative)

I am having my lunch now. (positive) I am not having my lunch now. (negative)

I like to play chess. (positive) I do not(don’t) like to play chess. (negative)

Ruvini is a beautiful girl. (positive) Ruvini is not a beautiful girl. (negative)

Exercise: Write positive sentences.
1) I am not a good football player.
2) She is not the queen of that country.
3) My father is not a jewellery merchant.
4) Mihira is not suitable for that post.
5) We are not walking towards Deva’s house.

Exercise: Write negative sentences.
1) This is our home.
2) Suraj is a good friend of mine.
3) He is a hard worker.
4) The Principle gave a good lecture to a student.
5) Siridasa is a good singer.
