It will enable your keyboard and screen backlight to turn on automatically during the night hours or to stay turned off during the daylight period when you don't need the backlights.Obviously, the main purpose of this feature is to preserve the battery, extend its lifetime and save you from annoying backlights flashing caused by the interior light sensor, which is by the way a more than welcome addition as it determines when the backlight is needed and turns it on accordingly.
