Sri Lanka is not safe for women travelling alone. I myself am travelling alone through Sri Lanka. In the first week I only managed to avoid being kidnapped/raped by luck. And this happened in broad daylight in an otherwise very tourist safe place! I cannot recommend any woman to travel there alone. I will never do it again. If only with a group of friends. But never go outside alone as a woman. It's just like India. I spoke to a local about it and he said that the country has been visited by tourists for generations who come there to fuck. That the locals think that foreigners are very open-minded. And also in the culture, local Sinhalese women are offered money for sex when they are outside alone. Because they are seen as also as whores.
