one of the most fascinating species to exist in this planet
Immortal Jellyfish
To date, there's only one species that has been called 'biologically immortal': the jellyfish Turritopsis dohrnii. These small, transparent animals hang out in oceans around the world and can turn back time by reverting to an earlier stage of their life cycle.
This is called "Transdifferentiation". It reprogrammes the medusa's specialised cells to become specialised polyp cells, allowing the jellyfish to regrow.
PS: There's a Japansese scientist Dr Shin Kubota (Kyoto Uni Research team) who kept colonies of T.Dohrnii alive for many years to study them.
