Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera says there is a shortage of diesel in Sri Lanka at present.
Addressing the Parliament today, the Minister said the country requires 4000 Metric Tonnes (MT) of diesel per day but is currently only releasing 1000- 1500 MT a day.
He said this was due to providing the necessary allocations of diesel for the generation of power.
Minister Wijesekera said the next shipment of diesel is expected to arrive on the 11th of May but is reportedly getting delayed by 2 days.
