You should inform PLN, poor buggers are trying to build one
referred to SUPERcarriers with full-length flight decks. There are various sorts of carriers. LHA LPD with ski jumps for rotary or VSTOLS carriers

70,000 ton Fujian is an LHD? not a super carrier?

Why do i even bother
Ah, I see you are talking about Fujian, not Liaoning and Shandong, which have not conducted proper HAT/SAT yet.

The term supercarrier is very loosely used in literature, but it's not all about tonnage or length; it's mostly about endurance. Because supercarriers are bluewater-capable ships used in power projection roles on enemy shores, Firstly, even though Fujian has a full-length flight deck with the newest catapult system, Fujian is not a supercarrier; its CV is not a CVN, and it is steam turbine-powered. This makes it a slow and less endurance ship, disqualifying its blue-water capability and its power projection role.

Secondly, China does not have proper escorts for its CVs; without AD escorts (such as AGIES cruisers of the USN), most of the carrier's aircraft need to be loaded out in the AA/ ASW role, making the offensive posture of Chinese carriers minimal. So it's pretty sure that Chinese carriers will not proceed beyond their country's ISTAR limits. They will roam in the contested waters of the South China Sea, act as floating runways, not beyond that.

So carriers are outdated only if they are nuclear powered? LOL first US super carrier was Forrestal and it was not nuclear powered  Carrier does not have to have the endurance of 20 years to be blue water capable.

China won't build 70,000 aircraft carrier to operate in it's littoral waters  why bother with a ship when your ground based aviation can easily cover the area?

Dude the fact that your beloved minor navel power Russian can't afford them doesn't make aircraft carriers outdated

Who told you that, I was referring to how supercarriers are categorised, it's about role, not propulsion or tonnage; supercarriers are not outdated but it's about who presents a more bigger and appealing target to the enemy. By design, CVs and CVNs cannot defend themselves; they have to rely on escorts to provide protection for them. if a country lost one CVN, it would be the end of more than 5,000 lives, how it affects the morale of forces (enemy and friendly) and support to the war effort at home.

Warfare evolves, and standards change now a ship to be considered as a supercarrier it should be nuclear powered. Displacement or length does not do anything the designed role does.

I have no beloved countries; I will tell you how countries formulate their strategies. First, we take the US, no matter how big US is it’s an Island. It depends on the maritime environment for its interactions with other countries so they need a bigger Navy (Whales).

Russia is connected to almost all countries by land so it needs to have a bigger Army (Elephants), further, Russia doesn’t have free access to sea every ship coming out of Russia needs to pass the G-I-UK gap, Bosporus Strait or Bering Strait (and some part near Japan couldn't remember) they cannot send big naval fleet from these bottlenecks.

Both sea powers like US and land powers like China, Russia, have different characteristics. The funniest thing is no carrier-based aircraft can reach Russian VPs, they simply have no endurance. This is how the game of Elephants and Whales is played.

And who told you that nuclear propulsion is a requirement for a super carrier?

Who told you that PLN can't defend their carrier strike groups? That's where the type 055 comes in. Again you failed to mention why PLN would build a carrier with intentions to deploy it in their own littoral waters where land based aviation can do better.

The guy you nodded your head said carriers are outdated.

Dude US isn't an island. It's on the North American continent. You can't make up definitions as you go.

While i agree that Russia does not need a big navy, their efforts of building carriers have always ended in catastrophe. Best example? Kuznetsov.
