COVID-19 Vaccination â Key Recommendations (Summary Note)
1. Target Population
COVID-19 vaccination is recommended for all adults âĨ18 years.
Children 6 monthsâ17 years should be vaccinated only if they have medical conditions that increase risk of severe COVID-19.
Healthy children and adolescents without risk factors are not routinely recommended to receive COVID-19 vaccination.
2. Primary Vaccination Schedule
Most individuals
1 dose is considered sufficient as the primary vaccination.
Severely immunocompromised individuals
2 primary doses are recommended.
A third dose may be considered to improve immune response.
3. Booster (Additional) Doses
Adults 18â64 years (without major risk factors)
Primary dose recommended.
Additional dose every 12 months may be considered based on riskâbenefit assessment.
Adults 65â74 years
Booster every 12 months recommended.
Every 6 months may be considered in high-risk individuals.
Adults âĨ75 years
Booster doses recommended every 6 months.
Severely immunocompromised individuals
Require additional doses beyond the primary schedule to maintain adequate protection.
4. Pregnancy
Unvaccinated pregnant women are recommended to receive COVID-19 vaccination.
If previously vaccinated, routine additional doses during pregnancy are not required, but can be considered depending on risk.
5. Previous SARS-CoV-2 Infection
People with prior infection can still receive vaccination.
No strict minimum interval is required between infection and vaccination.
6. High-Risk Groups for Severe COVID-19
Individuals with the following require closer vaccination follow-up and boosters:
Advanced age
Severe immunocompromise
Chronic medical conditions
These groups may require more frequent booster doses
