Sailor defuses 1.5kg time bomb at A’pura fair


ANURADHAPURA: A time bomb targeting civilians visiting the Sunday fair in Anuradhapura was detected yesterday around 11.45 a.m. North Central Province DIG K.P.P. Pathirana said.

N.S.W. Bandara of the Mannar Navy defused the time bomb weighing 1.5kg averting a major disaster.

The bomb attached to a timing device had been placed in a black bag opposite a boutique in the Mahajana Pola.

DIG Pathirana said road blocks have been set-up to nab the suspects.

Nearly 50,000 people visit the Pola.

    The powerful time bomb found at the Anuradhapura Sunday fair was spotted by a sailor who happened to pass by the place with his family. The bomb was later defused saving many lives.
