Incredible horror after the Hulk
A 12-year-old boy in Wellawatte, fascinated by the movie ‘The incredible Hulk’, failed in his attempt to emulate his idol and ended up in hospital.
The boy’s mother Shamindra Cruz said she rushed her son to hospital on Wednesday after he had swallowed a poisonous decoction.
She said that on arriving at home after watching the movie at the Majestic Cinema earlier in the day the boy had locked himself inside a room and prepared what he believed would be the magic potion to turn him into the green monster
“My son had remained quiet for hours inside his room and since he likes to play on his own, we thought he must be involved with his toys. He had always been a Captain Marvel fan, with the Incredible Hulk being his favourite hero,” Ms. Cruz said. After some three hours my husband had heard a sound from our son’s room and on entering the room found the boy choking over some liquid he had just drunk. “I was shocked on seeing my son choking. He found it difficult to breath and was on the floor. I immediately put my fingers into his mouth and made him vomit the fluid. He was in severe pain,” the boy’s father Anthony Cruz said. The boy was rushed to the National Hospital OPD but was released almost immediately as his condition was not serious. However since then he had been suffering from high temperature due to shock.
Ms. Cruz said her husband had tasted the poisonous mixture which had splashed all over the bedroom floor but was unable to identify the nature of the decoction. Their son had later confessed that it was only a mixture of kerosene and cocoa cola. “My son told me that if he drank kerosene mixed with a soft drink he would turn into The Incredible Hulk. If I had not rushed into his room at that time and made him vomit the liquid, he might not be with us today,” Mr. Cruz said.
