The greatest triumph which was achieved by eradicating terrorism has been betrayed several hours ago, said Sri Lanka Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya.
Lieutenant General Jayasuriya also added that he strongly deplores the allegations against the Sri Lanka Army and urged the security forces not to be discouraged or swayed by this betrayal.
The Army Commander was addressing a section of his troops who were presented appreciation messages for their participation in the war against terrorism which was completed last May. While all members of the security forces are to receive this appreciation, a token group received this today at Army Headquarters.
“Defeating terrorism in Sri Lanka was not an achievement by a single person. It was a collective effort by all involved,” Lieutenant General Jayasuriya stressed.
