සිසුන්ට අසාධාරණයක් නොවන අයුරින් විශ්වවිද්යාල ප්රවේශ ක්රමවේදය සකස් කිරීම සඳහා පත් කළ කමිටුව විභාග කොමසාරිස් ජනරාල් අනුර එදිරිසිංහ මහතා සමග හෙට (09 වැනිදා) සාකච්ඡා කර අවසන් තීරණයක් ගැනීමට නියමිත බව උසස් අධ්යාපන අමාත්යාංශයේ ලේකම් ආචාර්ය සුනිල් ජයන්ත නවරත්න මහතා "දිවයින" ට ඊයේ (07 දා ) පැවසීය.
උසස් අධ්යාපන ඇමැති එස්. බී. දිසානායක මහතාගේ ප්රධානත්වයෙන් පැවැති මෙම සාකච්ඡාවට එම අමාත්යාංශ ලේකම්වරයා ද විභාග කොමසාරිස් ජනරාල්වරයා සහ විශ්වවිද්යාල ප්රතිපාදන කොමිෂන් සභාවේ සභාපති මහාචාර්ය ගාමිණී සමරනායක මහතා ඇතුළු පිරිසක් සහභාගි වූහ. ප්රතිපාදන කොමිෂන් සභාව විසින් පත් කරන ලද ඉහත කමිටු සාමාජිකයෝ මෙම සාකච්ඡාවට එක්ව නොසිටියහ. එම කමිටුව විභාග කොමසාරිස් ජනරාල්වරයා සමග සාකච්ඡා කර තීරණයකට පැමිණිය යුතු බවට ඊයේ (7 දා) තීරණය විය. හෙට එම සාකච්ඡාව පැවැත්වෙන්නේ ඒ අනුවය.

Experts committee to study Z Score - Release of A/L results may be delayed

A committee of experts has been appointed to look in to the matters that have arisen regarding the Z-Score which is considered when enrolling students to universities.
Secretary to the Ministry of Higher Education Dr Sunil Jayantha Nawarathna stated that further action will be based upon the recommendations made by this panel.
Since there are 2 levels as the Old and New syllabus, the Secretary to the Ministry of Higher Education stated that the Z Score will be set in a manner that would not be unreasonable to any student.
He also stated that the report will be obtained within a week and results will be released thereafter.

Lanka Teachers’ Association says the reason given by officials for the delay in releasing the 2011 G.C.E Advanced Level examinations results cannot be accepted. It was stated that the A/L results will be delayed due to an issue regarding Z-scores. The General Secretary of the Association Joseph Starling said upon inquiring earlier about the release of results, the education authorities said there will be no delays. He added that officials attribute the delay to the examination being conducted in both new and old syllabi. Therefore he questioned why there should be an issue when the papers were made according to the new syllabus, and blamed it on the inefficiency of the authorities. Meanwhile, Attempts made by NewsRadio to contact the Commissioner of Examinations Anura Edirisinghe were futile. The Secretary to the Education Ministry H. M. ‘Z’ Score issue likely to be sorted out today

Another high level meeting would be held at the University Grants Commission today (14) to finalise matters regarding the ‘Z’ score problem of the GCE (A/L) results 2011.
The meeting would be attended by high ranking officials of the education sector including, Education Secretary H. M. Gunasekera, UGC Chairman Prof. Gamini Samaranayake, Higher Education Secretary Dr. Sunil Jayantha Navaratne and Commissioner General of Examinations Anura Edirisinghe.
"Most probably a decision to release the A/L results would betaken at today’s meeting," an official said.
The Examination Department originally planned to release the results before the end of the third school term, but it was not done due to the ‘Z’ score issue croppingup as students sat for the examination in two syllabuses.
However, Examination Chief Anura Edirisinghe said that they had finalised the results before end of the school term and were waiting to release them after sorting out the ‘Z’ Score issue.

(Colombo-Lankapuvath) The Examinations Commissioner General AnuraEdirisinghe said that the Department of Examination was prepared to release the results of the Advanced Level Examination within 12 hours after the receipt of the University Grants Commission’s recommendations.
The Z-score marks will be handed over to the University Grants Commission (UGC) today (21).
He emphasized that they cannot take arbitrary decisions on behalf of the students and they had to calculate the z-score marks separately for the old syllabus and also the new syllabus.
Thereafter they had to submit two separate reports to the University Grants Commission.
Another report of the amalgamated old and new syllabus has to be presented to an expert panel of the University Grants Commission. The panel has to peruse these three reports.
If the panel takes a decision within 24 hours to issue the z-score marks in this respect, the Commissioner General for Examinations pointed out that he was prepared to release the results within 12 hours.
