Plunkett's offer
ENGLAND seamer Liam Plunkett offered to give his ailing father one of his kidneys to cure a potentially life-threatening disease. But Alan Plunkett (father) has told how he turned down the "amazing offer" for the sake of his 21-year-old son's career.
The Durham player is on international duty with England's World Cup squad in the West Indies.
Alan, of Marton-in-Cleveland, near Middlesbrough, suffers from the hereditary condition polycystic kidney disease.
"It was an amazing thing to do but I could not accept because I'd be worried it would affect his cricket career," said Alan. "Instead I am awaiting dialysis until a new kidney becomes available."
