    1: mcq thinking method
    KE new = (1/2)mv^(2) *3

    in here "m" is constant & "1/2" also constant . since v^(2) increases from thrice.
    Hence v increases from 3^(1/2). which is the same with mv!
    ans : 73% ( i.e.: because answer has asked just the increasing percentage of the mv!

    2: more descriptive method

    (1/2)mV^(2) = 3*(1/2)mv^(2) (in here v is prior velocity V is after velocity)
    Result is V = 3^(1/2) v

    now u wanna to know the increasing proportion of the mv with respect to old value:

    (mV-mv)/mv = (3^(1/2)-1)v/v = 73%


    If the answer require to have what is the new value w.r.t. to old it is 173%

    avasaana chaalaka shakthiya = 1/2my^2

    chaalaka shakthiya 300% vedi vuna nisa;

    [(1/2my^2 - 1/2mx^2)/(1/2mx^2)]*100% = 300%

    me tika sulu karahama,

    (y^2 - x^2)/x^2 = 3


    (y^2)/x^2 - 1 = 3


    y/x = 2 -----------1


    ema nisa gamyatha vedi veeme prathishathaya = [(my - mx)/mx]*100%

    = (y/x - 1)*100%

    1 vana sameekaranayen,

    (y/x -1)*100% = (2-1)*100% = 100%

    ur welcome ! but i accept there's a possibility of understanding of this sum as u did, since able to predict if this is came in a al paper most probably marks will be given to the both answers! But better to be on safe hands with majority's thinking!

    Wish u good luck! At the same time it's advisable to read Rosa sir's books about past papers to have a better understanding on physics!

    yeah,but still i have this problem,it says "chalaka shakthi 300% ihala nanvai",then shouldn't it be the difference between the "aarambaka" and "avasaana" kinetic energy.

    in here matter is with the % sign brother , when ever using a % sign we are used to compare something with another directly! In here at the first moment u glance at 300% u've to understand it's a comparison between first & last!

    hw ever don't think much abt this matter & waste ur valuable time , i agree there's a problem with the language of this sum!
