A mass TMVP-organized anti LTTE / anti-TNA demonstration was held in Batticaloa

They quoted TMVP spokesman Azad Moulana as saying that over 20,000 civilians participated in the anti-Prabhakaran demonstration.

According to Moulana, sections of the Colombo based media and pro-LTTE organs were trying to scoff at the demonstrations by saying that armed TMVP cadres were forcing people to take part in the protests. Moulana denied the allegation, saying that the people came on their own free will and there were no armed TMVP cadres present.
