The story behind this is.................. ( please take your time to read this.)
Eranga (aka Slacker aka EJ aka djE, ya its lots of names to go through
) and Gayantha worked together making music some years ago. In that time Eranga and Gayantha made some songs, mainly with software\hardware support of Eranga, who brought those when he came here after got into music from LARW , LA, USA. Those days Eranga worked very hard on those music along with Gayantha.
After sometime Sachin and Rakitha along with V3 girls came to Eranga for a new Album. So they talked and thought they would create some songs for an album.
As for the Lyrics it was given to few new people and to Dukgannarala also, which actually their first video song "Kavikara Handawe " was written by Duka.
Gayantha said in that interview original song lyrics for dampata handawe music was done by his friend, but he forgot to tell the name. Hiran wijesinghe wrote that " Anduru Ahasaka rae katayam ...." lyrics for it (it was also a great song lyrics no doubt about that), but because Thisarau Perera had wrote "dampata handawe ..." lyrics, they had chosen "Dampata .." for the music.A song with Hiran's lyrics "Hiruth Obaya.." is also in the Tharukata album.
But after a while Gayantha was back into his own music and Eranga went to BnS crew. Tharukata album came in 2005 i guess. But they released the video for Dampata Handawe just in 2007 and thats with new music almost a remix.
But as for the scam Gayantha done @ iraj show last night there are few very low points i would like to mention.
1. Eranga stole music from him (gayantha)- it is very dumb to say that because he knew about Tharukata project, and moreover Eranga worked/made music at Eranga's Home studio those days.
2. Gayantha said Eranga never mentioned his name in his work- But if you look at Tharukata album in Eranga's pages, he has said thanks for Gayanthas help.
But Im not sure weather Gayantha has ever mentioned about Eranga in his album (actually i havent seen his album cover/booklet), which Eranga helped to make/improve some of his songs.
3. Gayantha said old lyrics " Anduru Ahasaka rae ..." was written by "his friend" - but the truth is it was written by Hiran Wijesinghe, who havent even met Gayantha once !! I think gayantha probably forgot Hiran's name when asked by Iraj.
4. Teesha's name isnt in Dampata Handawe - Thisaru perera was in V3 girls band which was with SnR old days. But Thisaru's name is in the video and mentioned when mentioning Dampata.. song. Thisaru's image is taken a different path in music after the new name Teesha. But Thisaru's photo is also in the Tharukata album along with her name.
5. Gayantha took about 3 years to say this in public- In my honest opinion Gayantha want to take the credits now only because this video is popular. But the fact is Eranga never complained about Gayantha who never mention his name either.
So In my opinion this is the untold story behind this, i ask you all to read it and think before further commenting on this issue. I have taken my time to give you the story as far as i know. I am not writing this againts anyone, but to make the matters straight.
Im not sure whether I'll comment or argue on this issue in future but i think Eranga, Sachin n Rakitha will comment on this clearly on media in coming days.
