Tigers’ pill too bitter to swallow?

Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) leader Velupillai Prabhakaran is alive and well, claims one Mr. Arivazhakan, who has been so far unheard of. He claims to be the ‘Head of International Secretariat of the Intelligence Wing of the LTTE’, which too, defence sources say, is so far an unheard of entity.
To prove his point, this Arivazhakan, through pro-Tiger websites has published a photograph of Prabhakaran watching television while being seated comfortably with a Tamil newspaper in his hand.
But those who have analysed this picture have discovered that it has been doctored. An earlier picture of Prabhakaran in conversation with theoretician Anton Balasingham has been doctored and a TV and newspaper added. The news paper itself shows an old date, they point out.
And strangely enough, this picture which was posted on the website last night (May 22) has been removed by this morning.
The death of a so far mystically blown up character like Prabhakaran and the way it happened is hard to digest for those who were awed by him, say observers. And the remnants of the Tiger outfit, far removed from the actual location of conflict are hard at work to keep the flame of Eelam burning to cling on to the benefits that they have so far enjoyed and may slip from their grasp very soon, if not already, sources say.
